We recently discontinued our CAD department for unrelated reasons and it was no loss from the autodesk side, but a huge loss from loosing solidworks, catia, and igrip (all from Dassault). That stuff is free, well maybe not the addins, but the base programs are. Hah, your college should look into any of the Autodesk products and their addins. It was less than the cost of a professor and a couple of grad students going to a poster session in Hawaii. Maybe I'm just not smart enough to understand.ītw, we have a couple of seats of Mastercam, and the price was quite reasonable. I've often found it amusing that we're not a trade school, yet we put so much emphasis on our athletes going pro. I guess that was asking too much in the couple of hundred million dollars per year scheme of things. When I asked about increasing funding for some manufacturing specific hardware/software/teaching enhancements I was told "This isn't a trade school.".

That's why we have the best stadium and we pay our football coach over a $1/2Mil/yr in salary and benefits.

Nope, cost too much.My university has always had the best interests of its students as its top priority. We even suggested that since Cadkey was long ago bankrupt and gone, that maybe it was time to start looking at other programs, like Solidworks. It was pretty clear that the best interests of the students were low priority.
